What is microsuction?
Microsuction is a gentle and precise way of removing built-up earwax and debris. Using magnification, our trained clinician can clearly see inside the ear canal while using a small suction device to carefully remove the blockage.
Because microsuction doesn't use water, it's a clean and controlled method of earwax removal.
Ear pain or earache - please book with the clinical team first.
Little ears need looking after too
Keep an eye out for things like complaining of blocked or full ears, itching, changes in hearing, or ear problems after swimming. Children can also have ear conditions such as infections or glue ear that affect hearing, so symptoms aren't necessarily caused by wax.
One tip for parents: don't try to clean inside children's ears with cotton buds. Ears are generally self-cleaning, and cotton buds can push wax further in or damage the ear canal.

Leave earwax alone when it isn't causing problems
Earwax is normal and helps protect the ear. It generally only needs attention when it's building up or causing symptoms.
Skip the cotton buds
Cotton buds can push wax further into the ear canal rather than removing it — and can injure the ear.
Blocked doesn't always mean wax
A blocked feeling or change in hearing can have other causes, so having someone actually look in the ear is important.
Pain or discharge? Get it checked
Ear pain, bleeding or discharge shouldn't simply be assumed to be wax and should be assessed by a health professional.
